WITH THE VISION OF THE PISTACHIO PROMOTION OF HIGH NUTRITIONAL VALUE!
The Makri Pistachio Producers Association was founded in 2002 with the aim to provide pistachios of high nutritional value. Its premises are located 30km away from the town of Lamia, in the heart of Greece near the Thermal Springs of Platystomo, a spa town of Fthiotida, known for its therapeutical waters that date back to the time of Ainis, Achilles and the Myrmidons.
Today, the association consists of 29 members, owns 1000 acres of cultivating land and trades in producing and remaking shelled pistachio both open and closed by supplying the market with sacks of 25kg each. Thus, it manages to reinforce the economic growth of the local community. The Association is constantly upgrading the means of cultivation and remaking of the product, develops its technical know-how and is known for high quality.
The product holds a PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), under contract code number ΠΟΓ/966-7552.07, according to the EU legislation and is exported to European countries such as Germany, Italy, Croatia, Serbia and others like Dubai, Israel etc.
